SGD$1.5 Million Awarded for the Commercialization of ThreatMirror
We’re thrilled to share that Illinois Advanced Research Center at Singapore Ltd. and Singapore University of Technology and Design (the institutes that spun off OverArX) has received the CRPO Translation and Innovation Grant (Series 2), backed by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), and administered by the CRPO – CyberSG Research & Development Programme Office at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. The grant aims to translate, operationalize, and commercialize our threat modeling tool, moving it from an academic concept into a practical solution that organizations can use to improve their security posture.
This grant represents an important step forward: not only does it validate the value of the work we’ve been doing, but it also empowers us to bring the tool into the hands of real users who can benefit from more accessible, structured, and scalable threat modeling.
Why This Grant Matters
Threat modeling has traditionally been a highly specialized and often manually intensive activity. ThreatMirror was designed to make this process more systematic, repeatable, and usable by non-experts. With this new funding, we can now:
-
Translate research into practice: refine the methodology, streamline the workflow, and build interfaces and documentation that support real-world adoption.
-
Evaluate usability and effectiveness: gather feedback from practitioners, run pilot deployments, and iterate based on evidence.
-
Move toward commercialization: design a version suitable for broader release, with the stability, support, and user experience expected from a production-ready product.
Collaborating With an Excellent Team
I’m also incredibly grateful to be working with two outstanding collaborators on this project:
-
Cybernatics Pte Ltd, and.
-
Critical Systems Labs.
Their experience and vision strengthen this project immeasurably, and I’m excited for what we’ll build together.
What’s Next?
Over the coming months, we’ll be focusing on:
-
Enhancing the tool’s user experience and documentation
-
Conducting user studies and practitioner workshops
-
Building a roadmap toward a fully supported, widely available product
-
Exploring partnerships with industry and public-sector organizations
This is an exciting opportunity to bridge the gap between research and impact, and we are deeply grateful for the support that makes it possible.
